Building an ethical, no-kill network for street cat colonies in Galera
Not all animal welfare work is visible.
Much of it happens quietly… early mornings, late evenings, food bowls refilled, cats counted, absences noticed. It’s patient, practical care carried out by people who rarely call themselves rescuers, yet absolutely are.
We are currently working on an ethical, no-kill project to identify and support street cat colonies in Galera, including La Alquería and Cortijo del Cura. The aim is simple but vital… to understand where colonies are, who is caring for them, and how we can build sustainable support systems around that care.
If you are feeding a street cat colony, no matter how big or small, we would really like to hear from you.
We are looking to gather the following information:
- Your name, as the colony manager or main carer
- The location of the colony
- Approximate numbers of male and female cats
This information helps us plan responsibly, prioritise resources, and ensure that no colony, and no carer, is working alone.
We cannot do this without you.
Thank you for the work you already do.

Gracias,
Ann
